The Brighter Side
Children's Book Illustration
Storytelling

The Brighter Side is a children's picture book about gratitude written and illustrated by me.
I self published the book using Amazon's KDP services in July, 2023. It is hence, available abroad. Although the book is not available or published in India yet, I hope to reach more young readers in India in the future.
The book's materials are copyrighted, but the link provided showcases a flip through of it to share the flow of the story and my illustration work as part of my portfolio.

About the Book
The Brighter Side is a picture book that aims to teach children between the ages of 6 to 8, the importance of gratitude.
The three characters - Rio, the 7 year old boy, his Dad and Cosmo (the little dog) are shown going on a gratitude walk during which Dad teaches Rio and Cosmo the importance of giving thanks and appreciating all that they have.
The second half of the boy uses rhyme to make reading fun. The illustrations are bright, colourful and detailed to add to the visual experience for the child.

"After all, in our whole world - big and wide, it's the bravest people who remember, no matter what, to always look on the brighter side..."
The base for the illustrations has been painted using gouache on paper and then scanned + rendered on Photoshop. Mixed media art allowed me to create authentic looking picture book illustrations.
The Brighter Side is available on Amazon in all countries that have their KDP printing services.

Project 2
My Little Light
Visual Storytelling
Illustration
My Little Light is a silent book - a book with only visuals, no text. Illustration does all the storytelling. My silent book also uses a limited colour palette - black, white and yellow.

The story is open to subjective interpretation by the reader since there is no text involved.

My Little Light is a story about a girl, unhappy in her black and white world, the girl slowly opens up her arms and discovers the light was always inside of her.

The illustrations are first painted on paper using gouache paint and then scanned and rendered on Photoshop.

Project 3
(Extraordinary) Ordinary Life
Illustration
Zine Making
A zine about people, places, things and the mundanity of it all.

(Extraordinary) Ordinary Life is a collection of mixed media illustrations of everyday experiences that may seem mundane and ordinary but make up most of our days. It is important to identify these little moments and appreciate the magic of the mundane which I have aimed to show through the comparison between black and white line drawing on butter paper and beneath them, these moments in full colour.

To the left of each illustration are photographs of moments from my life that I am reminded of by each of those drawings.

The illustrations are gouache paintings that have been scanned and completed on Photoshop.
